A deconstructed dragonfly. A dragonfly, taken apart and rebuilt in layers. Translucent sage, blush, and buttery gold overlap around a slate-blue form that cuts diagonally across the canvas, part wing, part body, part reflection. Stems and leaf shapes drift through the composition, so the insect and its habitat blur into one another. Rather than painting the creature itself, Dragonfly captures the feeling of one: the flicker of movement, the glint of light through a wing, the way something small can hold your attention over water on a summer afternoon.
